📻✨ A bit of a pinch-me moment! Today I was interviewed on BBC Radio Bristol! ✨📻
I recently had the privilege of speaking with John Darvall on BBC Radio Bristol about something incredibly close to my heart — medical tattooing and the difference it can make to people’s lives.❤️
During the interview, I shared some of my own personal experiences and spoke about why this side of my work means so much to me.
Medical tattooing isn’t simply about appearance. For anyone who has scarring or skin differences or blemishes due to cancer, surgery, trauma, self injuries, birth marks etc or skin changes due to things such as vitiligo and alopecia medical tattooing can be an incredibly powerful solution.
Paramedical tattooing treatments such as 3D hyper-realistic nipple & areola tattooing, scar camouflage, scar restoration and skin colour restorative tattooing can help recreate or disguise what has been changed or lost.
But often, what I’m trying to restore for my clients goes far beyond the skin.
It’s about helping someone regain their confidence, identity and a sense of feeling like themselves again following injury or illness.
One of the biggest reasons I wanted to speak publicly about this was awareness.
So many people simply don’t know these medical tattooing and scar restorative treatments exist!
Despite trying to reach people via social media that may benefit from these treatments I have repeatedly had my posts restricted or banned by Facebook & Instagram for “nudity” or “inappropriate images”, when sharing before-and-after photographs of breast cancer survivors who have had nipple and areola reconstruction tattooing — despite those images being shared with consent, for educational purposes, to show other people that there ARE options available after surgery.
These aren’t sexual images. They’re the results of cancer treatments, reconstruction, healing and, in many cases, the final step of an incredibly difficult journey.
So being given the opportunity by the BBC to talk openly about my work and help get that message out there meant more to me than I can really explain.
And then came the news I wasn’t expecting…

I’m absolutely OVER THE MOON!
If speaking about my own experiences and the work I do helps even one person discover a treatment they didn’t know existed, or gives someone hope that there may be an option for their scars or reconstruction, then putting myself out there was completely worth it.
Even if I was sick with nerves before going On Air! 🫣
